Position Summary

The Carleton College Department of Biology invites applications for a part‑time (0.67‑time) one‑year visiting assistant professor position, with the possibility of renewal, to start September 1, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach the equivalent of four courses distributed across three 10‑week academic terms, including a Microbiology course with two lab sections and lab sections in the introductory biology sequence.
• Provide mentoring and support within the biology department and the Perlman Center for Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in microbiology or a related field, completed by the start date of employment, or substantially completed Ph.D. candidates at the rank of instructor.
• Strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment.
