The Surgical Technician, in addition to assisting in the preparation, processing, care, and maintenance of instruments, supplies, and equipment, functions as a member of the surgical team during operative procedures, also functions in a specialty service, and utilizes and troubleshoots service implementation and equipment.

The individual must know aseptic technique and be able to scrub independently in orthopedic procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, and have knowledge in the sequencing of the surgical procedures.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Surgical Technician participates, under supervision, in the implementation of Operating Room Nursing Care and performs tasks related to both direct and indirect care of patients in the O.R.
