Specialist Medical Officer / Gastroenterologist – Fixed Term

The Department of Gastroenterology at Middlemore Hospital, an accredited, 800‑bed teaching hospital of Auckland University, is seeking a specialist gastroenterologist for a fixed‑term position covering a sabbatical leave (July2026–January2027). Start date and hours are negotiable.

About the Role

Our gastroenterology service operates four endoscopy procedure rooms, provides a high volume of outpatient services, and offers on‑site diagnostic investigations. The role includes teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and participating in an active research programme.

Responsibilities

• Perform endoscopic procedures
• Provide acute general gastroenterology care on the gastroenterology ward
