***REQURED CERTS: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC***
Unit Medsurg
# Beds 9 Med Surg rooms, 3 ER patient bays
Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:5 with a CNA
Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
Common diagnoses/Types of patients Swing bed for Rehab, Med Surg for pain control, pneumonia, Hypertensive crisis, bowel obstruction, some cardiac
Experience or 'Must have' skills Ability to admit, discharge, transfer patients, titrate medications, start IV's, work with PICC/Ports,participate in Codes: Cardiorespiratory, stroke, and sepsis, respond to traumas, Have Emergency Department experience to be able to float between MedSurg and ER. Should have experience.
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes to all
Common titratable &/or set rate drips Insulin, amiodorone, cardizem, levophed
Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? RNs are required to read th...
