About the unit

The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit is a high-acuity 36 bed cardiac surgical unit focused on fostering continuous learning while developing high level critical thinking and technical skills. Registered Nurses maintain significant competencies to operate at the top of the nursing license. Specialty device training includes the management of long term left ventricular assist devices, right and left sided Impellas, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The unit supports a culture of engagement and professional growth by encouraging participation in unit/organizational committees, councils, and other professional organizations.
