Specialized Seniors Care is an acute medicine unit. This 34‑bed unit cares for patients over 65 years of age with geriatric syndromes and acute illness. Our aim is to enhance or maintain the health status and quality of life of older adults who have complex medical issues. The team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, patient care assistants, behavioural support therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, recreation therapists, elder life specialists, geriatricians, geriatric psychologists, discharge planners, social workers, respiratory therapists, speech‑language pathologists, unit clerks, chaplains, and volunteers. Each member has a specific role to play to ensure seamless integration of care, and together we strive to provide exceptional care to each patient and family.
