Overview

The Department of Information Systems is situated within the Faculty of Commerce and provides undergraduate, honours, Masters and Ph D programmes. It was established at Rhodes University in 1980 and is now an independent department servicing students in BBus Sc, BCom and BSc (Inf Sys) degrees.

Responsibilities

All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research) and community engagement, and recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are expected to assume administrative, management and/or leadership duties at departmental, faculty and/or university levels.

In addition, an Associate Professor is to provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research and community engagement, and contribute towards the institution’s governance.
