Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily pig care
  • Feeding and watering of stock
  • Heat detection, breeding and artificial insemination
  • Assist sows and piglets with farrowing, litter identification & processing, fostering etc
  • Manage barn and pen environments; temperature and air quality
  • Maintain section cleanliness and sanitation
  • Dead pig removal and necropsy to identify cause of death
  • Identify and treat sick or injured stock in line with veterinary treatment plan
  • Identify and euthanise welfare compromised or non-treatable stock, in line with veterinary guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Routinely check and repair facilities and equipment including preventative maintenance
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the Production Manager, from time to time
  • Follow all bio-security protocols as outlined in the PIC NZ Employee Handbook
