Certified Physician Extender

The certified physician extender will work in collaboration with a physician to provide primary care services for gastroenterology patients in the Jackson Clinic. Performs new patient, follow-up, and walk-in visits in collaboration with the primary care physician. Documents and submits to the physician a list of patient encounters made each day for approval. Documents and submits charges for all patient encounters in the electronic medical record. Assists and takes initiative in handling issues of a non-routine nature. Performs other duties as requested.

Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner or physician assistant program; national certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is also required.
