Description of duties

The primary purpose of this position is to perform tasks to support the laboratory technical staff in the areas of specimen procurement, specimen processing. The laboratory serves mentally ill adults, geriatric, forensic, and civilly committed patients in the types and ages of patients served.

Job duties/scope of work Responsibilities

Prepares and logs specimens to be sent to the referral laboratories.

Makes first morning and other emergency blood collecting rounds to the assigned units

Performs venipuncture with proficiency without supervision, accurately labels specimen and distributes these specimens to the appropriate sections to ensure specimen integrity.

Maintains phlebotomy area and trays with ample supplies and in a clean and safe condition. These include monthly inventories.
