Job Description

Reporting to a Consultant Opthalmologist, Orthoptist performs orthoptic evaluation on children and adult patients and prescribes corrective action to gain normal and effective vision.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Performs orthoptic examination and testing as directed by referring physicians.
  • Maintains ophthalmic equipment by general servicing and maintenance.
  • Assists in the development of procedures for technical and clinical activities.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of consumables and supplies for designated area.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Participates in self and others' education, training and development, as applicable.
  • Follows all hospital-related policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
