**Background:** The Department of Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial and Oral Health is a multi-disciplinary group that includes Plastic Surgeons, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Dentists. Clinical care is primarily done within the UVAHealth system and in Charlottesville, VA. The department is growing and evolving into a more comprehensive unit. Recently, the Dentistry services were consolidated into the department and this has created opportunities for collaboration and program expansion. Currently, the Department has one experienced part-time Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and anticipates the need for adding a new full-time faculty member in this role in the near future. This is both a strategic hire and a needs based hire and performance goals will be focused around expansion of the program and increased access with enhanced throughput and availability.
