Summary This position is located at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA. Engineering Service. The Motor Vehicle Operator is in the Transportation Section. The duties include of specially equipped vehicles use in the transportation of patients, staff and materials between divisions and other cities for the Medical Center. Responsibilities Work assignments are received from the Supervisor, Mechanics/Transportation Section, and the incumbent is responsible for accomplishing these assignments with a minimum of supervision. The incumbent works independently. Drives up to 20 passenger wheelchair buses. These vehicles are specially equipped with hydraulic/electrical systems operated by the driver, to raise and lower a wheelchair platform. Wheelchair patients enter and exit this bus with the driver's assistance utilizing the lift. Drives trucks up to 2 and 1/2 ton capacity hauling various materials on and off the Medical Center campus.
