GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Patient Care Supervisor, the Licensed Practical Nurse administers direct nursing care to patients and performs a variety of indirect patient care duties. The License Practical Nurse is responsible for all professional working policies pertaining to this section.
The Licensed Practical Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit - adolescent through geriatric. The Licensed Practical Nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs; and to provide the care needed as described in the Home Health policies and procedures.
