Job Description

We are seeking a Lead Backend Developer to join the Retail Credit Engineering & Innovation (RCEI) team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada. The RCEI team supports Personal Financing Products, Credit Cards, Creditor Insurance, CB Operations, Regional Banking, Personal Banking & Investments, GRM and Finance.

Responsibilities

• Design and create new API and services using Java 11+ and Spring Boot 3+ as well as other modern backend technologies.
• Work within an agile team of technical, product, and business members to deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Collaborate to develop, troubleshoot, enhance, and document components following best practices.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and estimate activity and task effort.
• Participate in walkthrough reviews of specifications, programs, code, and test plans.
