Summary Inspector General Responsibilities ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Inspector General (IG) leads, directs and manages the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), which is responsible for conducting independent audits, inspections, investigations, evaluations and other reviews of NGA programs and operations to promote the agency's economy, efficiency and effectiveness. The IG provides policy guidance and direction for audits, inspections, investigations, evaluations and other review activities related to NGA programs and operations, as well as sets priorities for long-range and short-range plans, and makes resource allocations to support the OIG program, to promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness, or to prevent or deter fraud and abuse.
