Overview

Ward 31 is a 23‑bedded, dedicated fracture neck of femur ward and the only ward of its kind in Scotland. It is a busy and forward‑thinking ward within a diverse directorate, working collaboratively across the Orthopaedic Department. Our patient population is predominantly frail and elderly, with many patients experiencing delirium, dementia and a range of acute medical conditions alongside complex orthopaedic needs. Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment is essential to supporting high quality, compassionate and person‑centred care. The Ward Housekeeper plays a vital role within the ward team, supporting patient care through high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control, meal service support and stock management. The role contributes significantly to patient comfort, dignity and safety, particularly for our vulnerable patient group.
