Eligibility

This vacancy is only open for current fire control operators employed by a local authority fire and rescue service. The role is a transfer in process only.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency calls and manage response operations.
• Diffuse stressful situations and mobilise resources and equipment.
• Manage vehicles, officers, and incident logs.
• Collaborate with firefighters on scene and with public and businesses.
• Use the 999eye system for imagery and video to adjust resource mobilisation.
• Handle a diverse range of incidents, including fires, traffic collisions, industrial incidents, and other threats to life and property.

Working Environment

SWMFC serves the West Midlands and Staffordshire, covering a population of 3.8 million across a diverse area. Operations are based at the main control room with additional sites for resilience.
