Chemical Engineer

For 50 years, San Antonio Shoemakers, a San Antonio, Texas based company, has developed a reputation as a premier American manufacturer of high quality footwear. SAS has an opening for a Chemical Engineer who specializes in EVA rubber, SBR, TPU, PEBA and/or polyurethane (PU) formulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

+ Optimize PU resin/foam formulations to meet target specifications as well as help design and optimize EVA foam compounds.

+ Lead trials of new formulations throughout the design and development process all the way to efficient manufacturing.

+ Evaluate new raw materials, additives, fillers, etc., to improve product performance and reduce costs.

+ Evaluate and modify processing methods including compounding, extrusion, injection molding, and curing/foaming processes.

+ Troubleshoot issues related to material performance and equipment issue...
