The Emergency Medical Technician field provider is responsible for the direction of patient care while operating in non-emergency and/or emergency modalities as a rescue unit in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and directives.

The EMT-B leads, directs, and participates in the delivery of basic life support and participates in the delivery of advanced life support in a pre-hospital or facility situation.
