Job Description
Job description
Tampere University’s Doctoral School of Industry Innovations (DSII) is looking for a Doctoral Researcher to work with Vossloh Switch Systems on a four‑year dissertation that will advance understanding of the life‑cycle management of railway turnouts. The role combines academic research with industry‑directed work and will be supervised by Associate Professor Heikki Luomala and supported by a steering group of practitioners.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are to develop, validate and apply mathematical models for the ageing curves of railway turnouts and to evaluate their remaining useful life. The specific goals include:
- Develop mathematical models for turnout ageing curves.
- Identify key parameters influencing the curves and enable simulation by modifying those parameters.
- Partner with industry to move from corrective to predictive maintenance, allowing repair before failure.
