Consultant Respiratory Physician

Responsibilities

• Rotate through the ward, providing two weeks of daily ward cover every eight weeks; two consultants cover the 29‑bed respiratory ward simultaneously, plus a variable number of outliers on two surgical wards.


• Deliver outpatient services, maintaining own clinics and subspecialty work while sharing general respiratory duties including bronchoscopy.


• Contribute to weekend specialty ward rounds on Saturdays and Sundays; planned workload includes 1.5 SPA, 1PA General Medical Take (1 in 24 on call), and 0.3 PA Respiratory weekend ward rounds (1 in 10 weekends).


• Support audit, directorate meetings and perform administrative duties as required by the Lead Clinician of Respiratory.


• Maintain professional expertise through attendance at meetings and courses, complete CME diaries, and complete an annual appraisal.
