Overview: Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to make and assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, bridge parts, and pressure vessels, using knowledge of machining and welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements. Includes prototype work, welding and analyzing engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations. To perform journeyman level welding, machining, and fabrication of metals and special alloys to maintain, repair, design, and modify rides, vehicles and construction related items; and to construct specialized devices, parts and structures as requested.
