  • DealappropriatelywithtelephonecallsfromGP’s,patients,medicalstaff,nursingstaff,hospital departments etc.

  • Ensurethatthetelephoneisalwaysattendedduringnormalworkinghours,ifonlywithamessagefacility in the absence of the post holder.

  • LiaisewithGeneralPractitionersregardingpatientcareandpathways.

  • Liaisewithotherhospitalsandagenciesregardingthetransferofpatient’songoingcare.

  • Takecallsfromanxiousanddistressed membersof thepublicorstaff,requiringskillandsensitive handling, without recourse to others other than in exceptional cases

  • Totakeinitiativeintheorganisation,administrationandcommunicationtominimisethedemandsupon the consultant.
