**Description:**

+ Proficient in the procurement of blood samples via venous and capillary techniques, from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
+ Utilizes use of the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests.
+ Educates patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool and sputum.
+ Reviews orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in ordering tests; occasionally must call providers' offices to obtain orders.
+ Processes specimens in the appropriate way, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging and separating as necessary, and storing at the appropriate temperature to maintain sample integrity and testing acceptability.
