Certified Recovery Peer Advocate
Location: Westbury, NY | Schedule: Full Time, 35 hours per week| Status: Non-Exempt |Salary $24.73/hour
The Opportunity
FCA is seeking a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate for our Sherpa program, a trained team of peer recovery coaches offering guidance to individuals and families navigating the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment system. SHERPA provides recovery, harm-reduction, and crisis service linkage and emotional support based on the principles of hope, wellness, dignity, and choice.
Responsibilities
+ Engage people in strengths-based, trauma-informed peer support at the very beginning stages of their individual recovery plans, primarily in a hospital emergency room setting following opiate overdose survival.
+ Demonstrate active listening, respectful motivational interviewing, and treatment of people as the strongest resource in their own recovery.
