Job Description
Role Overview
Fixed term opportunity until 30 June 2027. Full‑time 40‑hour week based in Kaitaia Hospital Accident & Medical. The role is part of the Reducing Demand for Methamphetamine programme, supporting implementation of Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) within the A&M setting. It aims to shape a new model of care and improve outcomes for whānau across Te Tai Tokerau. The AOD SBIRT clinician will work within the General Adult Community Mental Health & Addictions service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct alcohol and other drug screening and early identification
- Provide brief intervention using motivational interviewing and harm‑reduction approaches
- Warm handover and referral to treatment services
- Engage and support whānau and tāngata whaiora
- Educate workforce and build staff capability
- Improve services, report and monitor outcomes
